We know that John Bishop is going to be in Doctor Who – but until the series returns to our screens, that looks like the only thing we’re going to know.

The comedian was tight-lipped when asked about his role as the Doctor’s companion on tonight’s edition of The Graham Norton Show.

The 54-year-old said: ‘That was my lockdown experience. I am the new companion to the Doctor. I’m allowed to say that, but that’s about it!’

Spoil sport.

The Scouser was unveiled as part of the cast of Doctor Who following the New Year’s Day special Revolution of the Daleks, with a short teaser confirming that he would be playing Dan alongside Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor.

Bishop joining the cast comes after Bradley Walsh and Tosin Cole left the show as Graham and Ryan respectively.

Mandip Gill, however, will continue to play Yaz in the Tardis.

The 13th series began production in November, and is expected to premiere this year.

While Bishop couldn’t give us any details about his adventures through time and space, he did discuss his upcoming tour Right Here, Right Now.

He said: ‘It’s the tour I was doing it before lockdown. We’ve moved everything to September to allow time for people to be allowed back in.

‘What was meant to happen was me going to the States, Scandinavia, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Now, I think I might get to Scotland!’

Bishop is part of an all-star line-up on tonight’s Graham Norton, with Top Gun stars Tom Cruise, Jennifer Connelly and Miles Teller chatting about the sequel to the 80s classic.

Felicity Jones and Wumni Mosaku are also set to chat to Graham, while Years & Years, aka Olly Alexander, will provide the music.

This is the last recorded episode of the series, with two compilations of the best bits set to round out the series.

The Graham Norton Show airs at 10.45pm on BBC One.
