Dr Pimple Popper is back to change another person’s life, this time by removing an orange-sized bump from a gospel singer called Leta.

The 50-year-old revealed that she sang in the choir at her local church because it gave her joy – but also as a ‘coping mechanism’ to help her deal with a huge bump on her backside.

‘It is huge,’ she said. ‘It feels like a good-sized orange. The first time I noticed that I had a lump on my leg was probably about 10 years ago.’

She added: ‘It’s inconvenient to say the least.’

The choir singer, who had plans to return to college and has a wedding in the works, wore long tops in an attempt to hide the bump, and even tried to tape it down.

‘It’s embarrassing. It affects my self-esteem because I feel like there’s something defective about me. There are a lot of days where I’d just rather stay in bed,’ she said.

Enter Dr Lee.

Leta made the trip from Montgomery, Alabama to the world-renowned pimple popper’s California clinic, and the doctor gave her patient the life-changing operation she needed.

The official diagnosis for the growth is a lipoma, a benign tumour made of fat tissue.

As soon as Dr Lee made her first incision, the bump started making a ‘high-pitched squealing’ sound

‘Do you hear it talking to us?’ Dr Lee asked the patient at one point, ‘It is, it’s like talking to us. It’s a lipoma!’

The doctor explained: ‘Sometimes lipomas make squeaking noises, it’s just skin against skin and then there’s air involved now that I’ve opened the area. I think the lipomas talk to me because they know I’m coming to get them.’

Leta was so happy she began singing on the operating table.

After a lengthy procedure, Dr Lee finally removes Leta’s troublesome lipoma.

She said: ‘Wow, I can’t believe it’s not there anymore! Now I can get excited about getting married and walking down the aisle!’

Dr Pimple Popper airs Thursdays at 10pm on TLC.
