Father of the Bride director Nancy Meyers has teased a potential movie reunion.

The 70-year-old took to Instagram to share a pixelated screengrab of the 1991 film’s poster, raising the hopes of fans of the iconic comedy flick across the world.

‘If he thought a wedding was a lot, how would he react to 2020?’ she captioned the post. ‘Coming soon to the phone in your hand!’

Father of the Bride starred Steve Martin as George Banks and Diane Keaton as his wife, Nina.

The two are proud parents to Annie (Kimberly Williams-Paisley), but immediately struggle when she returns home from studying abroad to tell them she’s engaged.

The movie – co-written by Nancy – was a remake of the 1950 film of the same name.

Considering Nancy already banded together with the cast of another of her films, The Parent Trap, we’re hoping this reunion is possible too.

The Parent Trap reunion saw Lindsay Lohan, Dennis Quaid, Elaine Hendrix, Lisa Ann Walter and Simon Kunz have a little catch-up and we almost teared up.

The 1998 remake saw Lindsay make her big-screen debut, blowing our minds as she played both Hallie and Annie James – twins who had been separated as babies by their parents before meeting at summer camp and plotting to bring the former couple back together.

Lindsay shared memories of how making the iconic film when she was 11 helped her deal with family issues at home.

She said: ‘My parents were kind of separating at the time when this was all going on, and it made it a lot easier for me to play these characters that were figuring it out.’

The cast also remembered the late Natasha Richardson, who starred as mum and fashion designer Elizabeth James.

Natasha died in 2009 from a head injury she got during a skiing accident.
