Inter Miami have set their sights on signing Real Madrid full-back Marcelo – with Sergio Ramos also a target for the club further down the line.

The MLS side, co-owned by David Beckham, already count former Real striker Gonzalo Higuain and World Cup winner Blaise Matuidi among their big-name signings with the club now ready to try and prise Marcelo from the Spanish capital.

AS report Real are prepared to let the 33-year-old leave after 14-and-a-half years at the club with Ferland Mendy now a regular at left-back with 19-year-old Miguel Gutiérrez also ahead of the Brazilian in the pecking order.

And with his time at the Bernabeu drawing to a close, Marcelo ‘does not want to become a burden’ for the club, according to the report.

While his contract does not expire until June 2022, Inter Miami hope an amicable arrangement can be reached for the full-back to leave Real at the end of the season.

Beckham and Marcelo were teammates for half a season in 2007 and the two have reportedly maintained a good relationship.

The report adds that should Inter manage to strike a deal that sees Marcelo terminate his contract at Madrid, then there will be real belief that the MLS side can strike a similar deal with Los Blanos skipper Sergio Ramos later down the line.

Ramos’ current deal in the Spanish capital is set to expire at the end of the season.

After a lengthy stand-off, recent reports suggest the Spain international is ready to agree to a new two-year deal at a reduced salary.
