Ahh, South by Southwest. The only festival (at least to my knowledge) that can unite such seemingly disparate forces of entertainment as Jake Gyllenhaal, Grumpy Cat, and Ira Glass. It’s a jam-packed, 10-day extravaganza with dozens upon dozens of concerts, interviews, movie premieres, and “activation” events all happening simultaneously.

Within hours of arriving in Austin, Texas, I managed to learn about new technology in the world of gardening, photograph the red carpet premiere of Richard Linklater’s Everybody Wants Some, accidentally crash a party celebrating Mark Mothersbaugh’s “Myopia” exhibition at The Contemporary Austin, catch a blazing set from local favorites Sweet Spirit, and end the night at an intimate show by The Strokes. This was only night one, folks.

From Stormtroopers to Saint Bernards, Mr. Robot to Mark Duplass, Anthony Bourdain to Broad City — here are some of the visual highlights from the Interactive and Film portions of SXSW 2016.
