ransfer news and rumours – LIVE!

The summer window is already kicking into gear with big names making moves and managers swapping clubs around Europe.

With a draining 2020/21 season complete and many top players now busy preparing for a hectic summer at the European Championship, it could be an unusual window as clubs attempt to improve their squads in the midst of a huge tournament while still counting the costs of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking of Inter and Premier League returns, Romelu Lukaku says he’s staying despite interest from Chelsea… though their first choice was always Borussia Dortmund wunderkind Erling Haaland.

Manchester United have been given fresh hope in their bid to sign Haaland’s team-mate Jadon Sancho, while they are also trying to tempt Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid as well as holding interest in Real’s Raphael Varane, though Bayern Munich are now the front runners for Saul Niguez.

Liverpool have already made their move in the market by signing RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate, and may not stop there as they bid to regain their Premier League crown after being deposed by Man City, with the Reds said to be at the front of the queue for Leeds winger Raphinha.

Elsewhere, Arsenal are believed to have made their £30m move for Norwich playmaker Emi Buendia, though face still competition from Aston Villa.

Man United enter Trippier talks

Staying with Manchester United, it appears that there are certainly legs to the Kieran Trippier rumours circulating yesterday.

The Athletic report that the Red Devils have entered into talks with Atletico Madrid regarding the versatile former Tottenham full-back, who is currently preparing for the European Championship with England.

Indeed, it is said that Bury native Trippier – who won the LaLiga title with Atletico in 2020/21 – would like to return to the north-west and has even been looking at houses in the Manchester area.

Man United confident over Sancho deal

While Manchester United may not be signing Saul Niguez, they appear to have been handed no shortage of encouragement in the race for Jadon Sancho.

Borussia Dortmund and England star Sancho has long been Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s no1 transfer target and The Athletic now report that United are “pressing ahead” with a deal for the highly-rated winger amid rising expectations that they can finally get an agreement over the line.

It seems there is growing confidence that Dortmund will be willing to accept a lower fee for Sancho than the £100m previously demanded.

Ex-Borussia Dortmund loanee Hakimi did appear likely to join PSG, though Chelsea are also in the race for a player potentially worth around £70m.

PSG ‘open Cristiano Ronaldo talks’

There has been plenty of initial speculation of late over a potentially sensational return to Manchester United for one Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, could Paris Saint-Germain be a more likely destination in the event that he leaves Juventus this summer?

According to AS, PSG have begun talks with Ronaldo’s entourage over such a blockbuster move, with returning Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri supposedly fine with selling the 36-year-old.

Ronaldo has only one year left on his €31m-a-year contract at Juve and it is said that PSG could offer former Inter Milan striker Maurco Icardi as part of a potential swap deal.

Ancelotti wants Richarlison reunion

Carlo Ancelotti has already caused enough disappointment at Everton by leaving after just 18 months… is he about to take away one of the club’s best players also?

Football Insider reports that Ancelotti is eager for a swift Real Madrid reunion with Richarlison, who was previously a target for Barcelona.

It is said that Everton will consider selling if the Brazilian pushes to move, with the Toffees reportedly needing to sell before they can buy this summer due to FFP restrictions.

Man City ‘make contact’ with Andre Silva agent

Manchester City seem to be targeting a move for Andre Silva this summer in the event that they miss out on the likes of Harry Kane and Erling Haaland.

That latter pair appear to be Pep Guardiola’s top targets as he looks to replace club legend and all-time leading goalscorer Sergio Aguero, who has joined Barcelona after his Etihad contract expired.

However, Sport Bild report that Portugal international Silva is also on the list of targets, with City said to have sounded out the Eintracht Frankfurt’s star’s agent over a potential transfer.

Liverpool ‘lead race’ for Raphinha

The rumours linking Leeds star Raphinha with a summer move to Liverpool are gathering pace.

Liverpool continue to be linked with a swoop for Raphinha, with the Daily Express now reporting that the Reds are leading the race for a player believed to be valued at at least £32m.
