Indeed, it is said that Bury native Trippier – who won the LaLiga title with Atletico in 2020/21 – would like to return to the north-west and has even been looking at houses in the Manchester area.
Man United confident over Sancho deal
While Manchester United may not be signing Saul Niguez, they appear to have been handed no shortage of encouragement in the race for Jadon Sancho.
Borussia Dortmund and England star Sancho has long been Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s no1 transfer target and The Athletic now report that United are “pressing ahead” with a deal for the highly-rated winger amid rising expectations that they can finally get an agreement over the line.
It seems there is growing confidence that Dortmund will be willing to accept a lower fee for Sancho than the £100m previously demanded.

PSG ‘open Cristiano Ronaldo talks’
There has been plenty of initial speculation of late over a potentially sensational return to Manchester United for one Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, could Paris Saint-Germain be a more likely destination in the event that he leaves Juventus this summer?
According to AS, PSG have begun talks with Ronaldo’s entourage over such a blockbuster move, with returning Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri supposedly fine with selling the 36-year-old.
Ronaldo has only one year left on his €31m-a-year contract at Juve and it is said that PSG could offer former Inter Milan striker Maurco Icardi as part of a potential swap deal.

Football Insider reports that Ancelotti is eager for a swift Real Madrid reunion with Richarlison, who was previously a target for Barcelona.
It is said that Everton will consider selling if the Brazilian pushes to move, with the Toffees reportedly needing to sell before they can buy this summer due to FFP restrictions.
Man City ‘make contact’ with Andre Silva agent
Manchester City seem to be targeting a move for Andre Silva this summer in the event that they miss out on the likes of Harry Kane and Erling Haaland.
That latter pair appear to be Pep Guardiola’s top targets as he looks to replace club legend and all-time leading goalscorer Sergio Aguero, who has joined Barcelona after his Etihad contract expired.
However, Sport Bild report that Portugal international Silva is also on the list of targets, with City said to have sounded out the Eintracht Frankfurt’s star’s agent over a potential transfer.
Liverpool ‘lead race’ for Raphinha
The rumours linking Leeds star Raphinha with a summer move to Liverpool are gathering pace.

Liverpool continue to be linked with a swoop for Raphinha, with the Daily Express now reporting that the Reds are leading the race for a player believed to be valued at at least £32m.
However, Manchester United and Manchester City are mentioned as potential rival suitors.
